Marine Aquarium Equipment

Maintaining a marine aquarium is not as difficult as it seems. Saltwater fish keeping can turn out to be easy in fact, quite like the freshwater one, if your marine aquarium is well equipped with the prerequisites. Marine aquarium equipment are generally expensive, but worth the cost. If you do not select the right quality equipment, the maintenance & repair outlay may continue to occur over the long term. Therefore, try prioritizing quality over price for hassles free and pleasant fish keeping.

Following are the important marine aquarium equipment:

Filters: Filters enable an aquarium to stay clear and free of any unwanted compounds. A gravel filter with a power head is essential equipment for any basic aquarium. The power head should be small enough to be hidden under the plants and should not produce noise or heat. For aquariums up to 400 liters capacity, the filters can be upgraded with a UV unit. If the capacity of an aquarium is more than 400 liters, then a trickle filter is needed. It consists of bio-balls, ceramic media, and protein skimmer with a UV unit. Make sure the quality of protein skimmers is high. Do not settle for a weak make just because it will be easier for your pocket. A reverse osmosis filter plant is the best for large marine aquariums.

Temperature: Place your marine aquarium away from the direct sunlight. Seawater fishes are easily susceptible to any external vibrations or disturbances. To keep the fishes stress-free, fix an automatic aquarium chiller, maintained at a temperature range of 24-28 degrees.

Illumination: Illuminate your marine tank with ready-made aquarium tube-lights to enhance the natural color of the fishes. Metal-halide lights are the best suited for seawater fishes. They are pricey though.

Chemical media reactor: It filters out solid waste from an aquarium. In effect, it purifies water and supports beneficial bacteria therein. It also removes any powerful odor and harmful inorganic substances.

Air pump: It provides oxygen to an aquarium. Choose a reliable and a noise free device, which circulates air to every part of your aquarium.

Heaters: Heaters are used to maintain the warmth of the water in a tank. A reliable heater, facilitating a stable temperature is safe for fishes.

Tank: Start your marine aquarium with 30–40 gallons tank capacity. It can accommodate many fishes. Be wary of buying small fishes, which can grow very big in just some time, threatening to out-grow your fish tank.

Marine water fish need lots of care and understanding. If provided favorable environment, your marine aquarium can actually look beautiful with water clarity, great colors, and graceful swim of its inmates.
